Hot Girl Golf: Leveraging Golf as a form of Self-Care

As with all challenging matters in life, the mental side of the game can be incredibly taxing. Over the past four years since picking up golf, I’ve logged some amazing, core memory-level memories and some serious, grade A meltdowns. Each of these discoveries has made my time as a golfer beneficial, wildly worthwhile, and enjoyable, like in my soul.

I wanted to share some insights and actionable steps that have added depth and excitement to my personal golf experiences.

Confidence is Everything

Confidence is the secret sauce that turns a challenging round of golf into an exhilarating adventure. PSYCH! It definitely is the vodka+waters lemonade at the turn. I’ve found that visualizing my shot and believing in my abilities (even if it feels like lying to myself) not only boosts my swing power but also makes every decision on the course feel like an opportunity to shine. If YAY was a feeling – that’s what I feel. For me, It transforms the game from a battle against my own doubts into a confident dance with the fairways and greens – and bugs and UV rays.

Embracing the Learning Curve

The learning curve in golf isn’t just a challenge; it’s a thrilling journey of self-improvement. I’ve come to appreciate that every setback is a steppingstone towards becoming a better golfer. It’s like unlocking a new level in a favorite video game (SIMS Bustin’ Out & Roller Coaster Tycoon), where each round is an opportunity for growth and mastering the game’s intricacies. Actionable tips that worked for me: seek guidance from REAL PROs, reflect on your rounds, and adopt a mindset that personal development is like finding little treasures.

Managing Expectations

Managing my golfing expectations didn’t really “stick” until after the first 85 times I was told I can’t get angry at myself if I don’t make more time to truly practice outside of rounds. Setting achievable goals and focusing on the process has transformed my golfing experience from one of pressure to one of jazzy fresh joy.

Handling Pressure Situations

Learning to handle pressure situations in golf has been like mastering a magic trick. I, Audrey Tully, am a trash magician. However, I have been dead set on getting my mind and body in sync so I can regulate my physiological responses in real time.

Overcoming Self-Doubt

Overcoming self-doubt in golf is like discovering the key to a locked treasure chest. It’s that moment when I realize I have the power to replace doubts with a shining confidence that lights up my game – even if it feels like a lie. Repeat affirmations, reflect post-round, and do whatever you can to find joy in your progress.

These insights and actionable steps have not only enhanced my golf abilities but have also opened doors to self-improvement and personal growth. They might work for you. Share what’s working and what’s not with me on Instagram! Love hearing from you guys!

Happy golfing!
