Gratitude is Gold

As we celebrate Thanksgiving here in America, amidst the mountain of snacks and leftovers, it’s important to me that I make time to acknowledge the complex history behind this tradition. While the historical backdrop of Thanksgiving is fraught with destruction, horror, and oppression, the day has evolved into a time for reflection and gratitude. At least that’s how I justify acknowledging Thanksgiving in general. Still super ugly, though.

Rediscovering Gratitude Amidst the Greens
After nearly nine months away from golf, my return to the course has brought so much joy. In looking back on my reflection sessions since the start of the year, one area I’ve found has kept me in higher spirits, all things considered, is actively acknowledging things I am grateful for each day. This seemed to keep me connected to my deeper purpose and passions. If you are fellow journal bro, let me know what you’re using as prompts. Always looking for new ways of thinking!

A Richer Perspective
This year, gratitude has officially taken on a deeper, more harnessed meaning for me. Beyond celebrating victories, I want to focus on being grateful for my health and the ability to play golf again. Every golf shot, successful or not, is now a gift I really hope I don’t take for granted. My break from golf has reinforced just how much the sport enriches my life and sincerely offers a cathartic outlet, challenge, and a sense of community.

Staying Anchored in #Gratitude
As we gather with loved ones this Thanksgiving, I hope the familial conflicts are kept at bay long enough for you to reflect on the small, often overlooked joys in life. For me, these are moments like the crisp air on the golf course at dawn (aka 10:30am), the friendly chatter with golf besties, and the simple joy of being able to engage in the game I love after what felt like an eternity away.
