Athlete in the Rough: Post-Surgery Update

How It Started

Tee Time with Audrey was launched to document my trek into the entrepreneurial world as I build Bluebird Golf Company, a women’s golf apparel company focused on leveraging technology to better marry function and form with inclusion and accessibility. The launch timeline was moved up after I tore my ACL and meniscus in February, just 6 days before my wedding. The blog has helped keep me connected and engaged within the golf community while I am posted up at home.

How It’s Going

Surgery went well, sans the next-level meltdown my care team had to witness as I come out of anesthesia. Said response was triggered while under the impression my surgeon, the renowned Dr. Matava, had never had an Uncrustable. The shock I felt was rivaled only by the patient next to me coding and confusing the refrigerated boxes of IV bags for sheet cakes.

Outside of an unexpected trip to the ER day 2 post-op, recovery has been a breeze. Mostly because Colin, my new groom, has been a dream nurse and our pup, Taylor, has excellent bedside manner when fed snacks in exchange for snugs.

On the Mend

Recovery has required planning, patience, and determination. Lotttts of old man shadow golfing going on at Casa de Tully since I can’t play. My focus has shifted to physical therapy, strength training, and mobility exercises, but let’s be honest, I’ve never watched more television in my lifetime and my babysitter as a youth was PBS. I have been exploring new ways of staying active, both mentally and physically (with crutches for now). If you have any recommendations, reach out!

Quick Bluebird Golf Update

In the midst of all this, the progress with Bluebird Golf Company has not slowed down. I’ve been able to channel my energy into refining our approach, managing the design process, fostering partnerships, and laying the foundation for the exciting future of this venture.

This temporary setback hasn’t diverted me; rather, it’s given me a renewed sense of purpose as a leader, entrepreneur, and advocate for change in the golf community. As I look forward to the next phase of recovery and the growth of Bluebird Golf, I am more eager than ever to continue to foster inclusivity and diversity within this sport we all love.
