For those of you who are new to ‘Tee Time with Audrey’, you’re tuning in at an important milestone. Six months ago, I embarked on a not-so-fun adventure: recovering from ACL surgery. Beyond the whole healing physically thing, I’ve also taken this time to cultivate the TTWA community, turning it into a space I’m genuinely proud of.
Periodically, I provide updates on my post-op progress under the category Athlete in the Rough. Here’s where I’m at on the recovery front these days:
I’m officially transitioning from a typical post-op PT routine to a more tailored training regimen. My intention is to steer my recovery towards goals that resonate with my aspirations in golf in 2024. Frankly, I am SO BORED with the plan and needed something to motivate me. This shift isn’t just about changing exercises and actually being able to run longer than 20 yards; it’s about intentionally designing a fitness plan that aligns with my unique objectives and then being able to report back to those of you who are interested in jumping into a similar training program.
Over the next month or so, I will be conducting research to identify a training path and resources that can easily be adopted by golfers of all abilities. My focus will primarily be on these areas:
- Core strength to build a solid core for more powerful and stable swings.
- Flexibility and balance to increase my range of motion for smoother swing mechanics.
- Endurance to boost my overall stamina to maintain consistency well through the back 9 of each round.
- Xaviar School for Gifted Youngsters-level mental acuity to sharpen my mental game for staying focused and strategic on the course – and to dominate at family Jeopardy!
Reaching this six-month milestone is just the beginning of a new chapter now that I have officially entered into my ‘soft girl’ era. I’m excited to dive deeper into golf training principles and aim to return to the fairway not just as a fully recovered athlete, but as a more skilled and insightful golfer. Stay tuned as I chart my progress and findings!
Cheers to a smarter, stronger approach to golf and life heading into 2024!
