Hey there, Golf Besties! Here’s a quick update about this year’s Ryder Cup tournament:
What is The Ryder Cup?
Dating back to 1927, The Ryder Cup is one of golf’s most prestigious team events. Originating as a competition between American and British professionals, it has evolved into an annual battle between the United States and Europe. If you love watching it, I love that for you. I personally know this is a charity tournament, so I don’t think about it really at all. The cup has seen its fair share of legendary moments, from the “Miracle at Medinah” to unforgettable performances by icons like Jack Nicklaus. If you paid me $50,000 right now to describe this Miracle at Medinah, I couldn’t. But folks sure do bring it up!
How Things Went?
To summarize: there was some drama with Rory. The internet is calling it Hat Gate. Colin tried to explain it to me but all I gathered was that players didn’t want to wear hats unless they’re paid by sponsors. And lastly, all of the participants wore some kind of matching ‘stume with dress shoes – sans socks. This is a crime with that level of sock tan. This, my friends, is about as interested as I was in this tournament.

Who REALLY Won Though?
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
If you aren’t aware, Taylor Swift essentially wrote Travis Kelce’s name into a particular blank space by attending the That space being on a blank check. Perhaps no single entity has benefitted more from this dynamic than the NFL. Viewership and merchandise sales have increased, and football as a sport has been the subject of buzz around the world. This is a big win since most people around the world don’t think or care about American football.
Travis Kelce, who gained 900,000 additional followers on Instagram after the first game Taylor Swift attended, is a close second. Colin and I agree, this is fake – completely set up to engage a wide audience. I so desperately do not want to be correct about this, but it seems more and more like a fact. Can’t fault them for understanding the assignment, though.
For now, I am going to get back to devouring all of the Taylor/Travis content gold online!
